Cookie policy

This website stores nothing on your device and sends nothing to Google unless you agree. This page lists what can be set if you do, and how to change your mind.

Esta página só está disponível em inglês.

The short version

  • Nothing is set, and nothing is sent to Google, until you choose on the cookie banner.
  • Say no and the site works exactly the same.
  • Analytics cookies tell us which pages are read. Advertising cookies tell us which adverts work.
  • You can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings at the foot of every page. Withdrawing deletes the cookies this site set.
  • The Magpie app uses no cookies.

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This site also uses your browser’s local storage, which works the same way, for one thing: remembering your answer to the cookie banner.

Your choice

When a cookie could be set, a banner asks first. Accept all and Reject all carry the same weight, and Manage preferences lets you choose analytics and advertising separately. Nothing is ticked in advance.

Until you choose, nothing is stored on your device and Google’s tags are not loaded at all, so nothing is sent to Google. If you reject both, that stays true on every page. If you accept one or both, Google’s tag manager loads, and only the tags for what you accepted can set cookies.

We ask again after 6 months, or sooner if this policy changes. To change your choice at any time, use Cookie settings at the foot of any page. When you withdraw a category, the site deletes that category’s cookies straight away. You can also delete cookies in your browser’s settings.

These cookies are set on magpie.today. With advertising accepted, Google’s tags also contact Google’s own domains (such as google.com and doubleclick.net) to report an advert’s result, and Google may read or set its own cookies there under Google’s privacy policy. We do not control those.

Who is behind them

Google processes analytics for us, under our instructions. For advertising, Google also uses what it collects for its own purposes, as a separate controller, under its own privacy policy. With advertising refused, Google’s advertising tags do not run, and advert click identifiers are removed from anything Google’s analytics tag sends.

The app

The Magpie app uses no cookies. What it collects is described in the privacy policy.
