How it works

01

Photograph it

Front, back and any mark. Magpie reads backstamps, hallmarks and labels on your phone before anything is sent.

02

Identify it

Maker, piece, period, and what to check while it is still in your hand, with a confidence you can see rather than a guess dressed as a fact.

03

Appraise it

A range from what similar items recently sold for, drawn with the sales behind it. Type the ticket price and get buy, maybe or pass.

Three screens, one answer.

Up to four photographs, and the ticket price if there is one.
The result screen: BUY at £40, a sold range of £250 to £550 and two confidence rings
The verdict, the range, the sales behind it as dots, and how sure it is.
The list of past appraisals with their ranges and verdicts
